PLAI policies
Privacy Policy
What PLAI collects from coaches, families, and athlete profiles — and what we do with it, including YouTube channel data when a coach connects a channel, and how we protect that data. Read this with the Terms of Service.
Effective October 5, 2026
What we collect
Account info you enter when creating an account: first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider — PLAI never sees it).
Team and game data that coaches and staff record: rosters, jersey numbers, lineups, pitches, plays, scores, sprays, recaps, notes, and linked video URLs.
Athlete profiles may describe minors. The adult who signs in is responsible for that profile. Photos and highlight clips are stored privately and served through short-lived signed links.
Basic technical data needed to run the app: sign-in sessions, device and browser type, and error logs.
How we use it
To run PLAI: sign you in, show your teams and games, keep the scorebook in sync, send recaps to the addresses a coach provides, deliver live score overlays, and store highlight clips. We also use it for support and to fix bugs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional use.
YouTube
When a coach connects a YouTube channel, PLAI uses Google sign-in and YouTube API Services to create and manage a live broadcast on that channel for a game. We receive a refresh token (stored encrypted), the YouTube channel id, and the channel name. We use them only to start and manage that team’s live stream and to show the channel name in Team Settings. We do not sell this data, and we do not download or store YouTube video files. A coach can disconnect the channel in Team Settings. The Google account owner can remove PLAI’s access at any time at Google Account permissions. Use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
How we protect it
Sensitive data — including account details and Google user data from a connected YouTube channel — is protected in these ways:
- Encryption in transit. PLAI is served over HTTPS. Traffic between your browser or the PLAI LIVE app and our servers, and between our servers and Google, is encrypted with TLS.
- Encryption at rest. A connected YouTube refresh token is encrypted with AES-256 before it is stored. Passwords are stored only as a hash by our authentication provider. Photos and highlight clips stay in private storage and are served through short-lived signed links.
- Limited access. Only coaches and staff allowed to manage that team can connect or disconnect its YouTube channel. PLAI’s systems use the stored token only to start and manage that team’s live broadcast and to show the channel name in Team Settings. We do not sell Google user data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train machine-learning models.
- Deletion. Disconnecting YouTube in Team Settings deletes the stored refresh token, channel id, and channel name for that team. The Google account owner can also remove PLAI at Google Account permissions.
SMS / text messaging
PLAI collects affirmative SMS consent when you provide a mobile number while creating an account (or when updating your phone in Account) and check an unchecked-by-default consent box. The live opt-in flow and the exact disclosure language are documented at plai.life/sms.
If you consent, you agree to receive transactional and service texts from PLAI about your account and your teams — updates only. These may include:
- A team’s game is starting or has gone live
- A final score with a link to the recap
- A schedule change, or an approved coach/staff join request
- An account notice tied to something you did in PLAI
Message frequency varies with your team’s game schedule. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt out: Reply STOP to any PLAI SMS to unsubscribe. You may also clear your phone number in Account. Reply START to resubscribe after opting out.
Help: Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at support@plai.life.
Mobile phone numbers are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional use. Checking the SMS consent box is optional — you can create an account and use every part of PLAI without agreeing to receive texts; we will use email instead. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of creating an account or of purchase.
Your choices
- Edit your name, email, and phone number in Account.
- Leave the SMS box unchecked, or reply STOP at any time.
- Delete your account in PLAI LIVE (Profile, then Delete account) or on the website under Account. That removes your login, name, email, and phone. Games your club already scored stay with the team, and any plan you pay for stops. You can also email support@plai.life.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as PLAI grows. The effective date at the top will change when we do. See also our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
